On Monday, October 12, 2020, the Presidential Palace in Carthage hosted a meeting between Tunisian President, Qais Said, and Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Al-Jarandi.

The latest preparations for embracing Tunisia at the beginning of November have been discussed for the first direct meeting of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, according to what the United Nations Support Mission in Libya declared in a statement on Saturday, October 10, based on Security Council Resolution No. 2510 of 2020, which adopted the results of the conference in Berlin on the Libyan issue in the past January
Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams, said that the meeting focused on the most important stages of the Libyan political dialogue, hosted by Tunisia, stressing that the goal of the Libyan political dialogue in November is to reach elections that establish a democratic stage in Libya and gives legitimacy to institutions in Libya. This conference has the aim to discuss creating a qualified authority to provide services to the Libyan people and prepare the elections.

Williams assured that this dialogue, organized in Tunisia, represents a unique opportunity that, by all possible means, must not be missed.
